Giulia Giorgi

Hi! I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Milan. Currently, I am part of the ERC funded project Craftwork (2020-2025), led by Professor Alessandro Gandini. The project explores the relationships between work and identity in the context of neo-artisanal work, or ‘neocraft’ work. Click here to find out more about this amazing work!

In 2022, I have obtained a PhD in Digital Sociology at the University of Milan and the University of Turin. My dissertation deals with the contribution of memes to the construction and expression of generational identities.

I hold a MA in Applied Linguistics and a BA in Foreign Languages and Literature, both received at the University of Pisa. Besides memes, my research areas include youth cultures, digital sociology, digital methods, visual analysis, and political communication.

I have been involved with theatre for half my life, attending countless courses and being a member of three local theatre companies.
